“Mahavatar Babaji is the Guru of all Gurus on Earth, the Teacher of all Teachers. He is very serene and gentle; above all very, very humble and full of Love.”
Who is Mahavatar Babaji?
Mahavatar Babaji is one of the immortal Himalayan Yogis and the Guru of Paramahamsa Vishwananda. He is the Paramguru (highest Guru) and founder of all Kriya lineages.
Babaji’s Kriya Yoga– Origins
Babaji is the original source of Kriya Yoga and His teachings have been passed down through the Guru-disciple lineage for many centuries. Each Kriya Yoga teaching was tailored for the world at that particular time. For the modern age, He introduced Atma Kriya through Paramahamsa Vishwananda as the most suitable practice for the present day.
Translating from Sanskrit; ‘Atma’ means soul, ‘Kriya’ is action, and ‘Yoga’ is union or awareness. Thus, Atma Kriya Yoga is to be aware of the soul in every action.
This practice is given to humanity to help everyone realize the Divine within your own heart and experience unconditional love. Mahavatar Babaji has made a promise to everyone that whenever one practices Atma Kriya Yoga, He will be there— guiding, blessing, and loving the practitioner.
Out of boundless compassion, Babaji and Guruji (Paramahamsa Vishwananda) have given other practices like Simply Meditation, Project Mantra, Babaji Surya Namaskar, and Om Chanting so that everyone can connect with God in the way that most resonates with their heart.
Is Babaji Still Alive?
Yes! Mahavatar Babaji manifested on earth 5,000 years ago and He still resides in the Himalayas. He conquered death by the means of yoga and in this way, freed Himself from the bonds of this material world. However, out of compassion, He chose to still retain His physical body and reside here to help everyone on the spiritual journey back to our true home with God. He has promised to stay until each conditioned soul is completely freed.
Babaji has chosen to humbly serve us all from behind the scenes and asks His disciples to go out into the world and work on the forefront. Paramahamsa Vishwananda is one of His disciples, and through Him, we can receive the grace of Babaji’s love and teachings.
How did he become an Immortal Yogi?
Babaji is beyond time and space, ever-present on this plane.
Babaji appeared on earth after Lord Sri Krishna’s incarnation ended. With Krishna gone, the great sages and yogis were scared of what would happen to the world. They were afraid that without Krishna, the mind of man would forget and disregard the soul’s eternal connection of Love with the Divine and descend into complete materialism. They pleaded with God that He be able to remain on earth to support the world and help mankind remember their True Self. This is when Mahavatar Babaji appeared on earth. He is none other than Sri Krishna Himself.
Babaji is in constant communion with Saints and with Lord Jesus Christ. One of his fundamental teachings is, “If I (Babaji) realized the Divine, so can everyone.” He is in a state of constant prayer, sending waves of peace and love to humanity and rendering assistance to all.
Paramahamsa Vishwananda & Babaji’s Connection
Mahavatar Babaji first appeared to Paramahamsa Vishwananda when He was five years old. Known then as Visham, Paramahamsa Vishwananda was in the hospital after eating some very poisonous seeds. Normally, just one seed is enough to seriously affect someone but through the grace of God that was already present in little Visham’s heart, he was on the road to recovery very quickly. On one such day, Babaji appeared in the hospital ward as a seemingly ordinary man and Visham watched with fascination as He gave sweets to all the children.
Visham approached the kind man, and when he came close, Babaji said to him, “Look behind Me, do you see that Light?” The boy replied saying that he couldn’t see it. Babaji asked him to look again properly and this time Visham could see a light brighter than the sun, slightly behind Babaji’s figure. Babaji then said to Visham, “This Light is You” and so saying, He disappeared. That meeting was the first one to remind the young boy of his True Self and the true nature of the soul. Ever since then, Babaji has guided Paramahamsa Vishwananda on His mission to spread the message of Unconditional Love.
-Although Mahavatar Babaji is the source of so much spiritual movement throughout the world, not many people have been able to read about Him directly. Bhakti Marga has produced invaluable material to enable you to deepen your loving connection with Him and understand His spiritual work.
Through the mercy of Guru and God, one of Paramahamsa Vishwananda’s appointed Swaminis, Swamini VishwaLakshmiAnandaMa, was given the grace to communicate telepathically with Babaji.
Between 2008 (when this Divine connection between Babaji and Swamini Lakshmi was established) and now, three books have been produced: Unity with the Divine and two volumes of Journey to Freedom. Babaji transmitted the wisdom of these works to Swamini using a Divine imprinting technique. He defines it as “a heart-to-heart and mind-to-mind communication.”
