Toronto Radharani Temple

Welcome to the Toronto Srimati Radharani and Ashtasakhi temple*! This temple was Paramahamsa Sri Swami Vishwananda’s vision in 2019 when He visited Toronto and by His grace, the work for this temple is in progress this year. This unique temple is one of the few temples in the world that venerates Srimati Radharani as the main deity. Srimati Radharani is the living embodiment of Bhakti or devotion to the divine. Her single-minded devotion to Lord Krishna is a concrete example of how one can attain the Lord.

The Ashta Sakhis (8 Friends) of Srimati Radharani are not ordinary girls. They are the divine associates of Srimati Radharani and Sri Krishna. Their devotion to the Divine Couple is supreme. As an aspect of the Divine Mother, Srimati Radharani is a blessing for North America and the world itself. Through Her grace and blessing, we may go deeper into our own relationship with the Divine.

The Radha temple is connected to a large home in the greater Toronto area with a private temple entrance. The temple will be a meeting place for all spiritual seekers. You will be able to attend public prayers weekly. The temple will also have an attached seminar area where we will hold meditation retreats, Sadhana courses, Bhakti Marga Academy courses, spiritual discourses from direct disciples of Paramahamsa Vishwananda, and more.

* — The temple has not been named yet. The official name will be revealed during the inauguration.

Construction Update

The building work for the temple started in early April and is progressing steadily. It’s super exciting to see what was once dead space now come to life! The murtis are near completion and the carving for the altar has also begun. We have paused slightly due to the global pandemic that is happening around the world but we are hopeful that the murtis will all arrive in time for the grand opening in August. The pictures below show the progress in the construction of the temple and of the murtis (deities). The construction of the altar (Mulasthanam) is also in progress.

Ongoing construction of the temple.
Ongoing carving of the murtis (deities).

Paramahamsa Vishwananda’s Trip to Toronto Has Been Postponed

Unfortunately, due to the pandemic and the associated travel restrictions, the Radha temple inauguration and Paramahamsa Vishwananda’s visit to Toronto has been postponed. We hope that Paramahamsa Vishwananda will come to Toronto to inaugurate the temple when it is feasible for all of us to gather and celebrate again. We will keep this page updated with more information.
